FRIENDSHIP: BUILDING GODLY AND HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS

Text: Proverbs 18:24

[24] A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

The whole life is built on relationships; no man can succeed on his own. The English say, "No man is an island," in other words, every man has got to keep one relationship or more to get to his destiny.

If that is the case, then we must be intentional about what relationship to keep and be ready to be committed to the tenets of every relationship.

One of the relationships that, most of the time, refers to the bedrock of all other relationships is friendship.

Why Friendship Is Important

Friendship is beautiful, especially when one finds those who are going in one's direction.

Friendship can make or mar a man; however, friendship is meant to make a man.

The Bible text explains one of the rules of friendship, and that is being friendly. The Bible is saying that, to keep friendship, both must be friendly.

What does it mean to be friendly?

According to Vocabulary.com, being friendly is described as being kind, caring, and making someone feel comfortable.

You can think about many ways to make someone feel comfortable, or be kind and caring.

The Scripture is saying that, in friendship, you must be kind and caring, and your friends should feel comfortable around you and vice versa.

Remember, Jesus also called us friends, so this also applies to the relationship.

Are You A Good Friend?

Who are your friends?

Are you comfortable around them?

Do you show them much kindness?

Are you caring towards them?

If that friendship is well nurtured, it can birth accomplishments, destiny fulfilment, and godly breakthrough.

DON'T just expect your friends to be friendly; you must also show them that you're friendly.

REFLECTION 

If Jesus is your friend, are you friendly towards Him?

Father, please protect all my friends and preserve them in the name of Jesus.
