Text: Luke 8:51-56
51 - And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
52 - And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
53 - And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
54 - And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
55 - And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
56 - And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
Yesterday, we looked at how God's word cannot be mocked, even if men attempt it, it doesn't and cannot stop the fulfilment of God's word. One of the things the devil does is to distract us from seeing or believing what God has said about us. He knows he can't stop the fulfilment but he's also sure that if he can distract us, and our gaze gets shifted from his words, we lose our faith and are denied us of walking into fulfilment.
To overcome distractions, we must do exactly as Jesus did, from the same text we examined yesterday, Jesus didn't just ignore the mockers, he did something fascinating. In verse 54
"And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise,"
Jesus put them out, ignoring them wasn't enough, he also needed to put them out. Some people do not need to walk with you if God's word will be fulfilled, there needs to be a disassociation, you need to put some people out because they are distractions and will deny you of what God has planned for you.
He also put into action what he declared that God had said about the dead maidservant. Remember he had said she wasn't dead but sleeping, while he was mocked, he didn't just put them out, the Bible says he took the maid by her hand and declared "Maid, arise!" God has said it, he acted on God's word. He declared it.
You need to act on God's word, you need to show the devil that you just didn't hear what God said, but you believed him wholeheartedly. You need to let God know that you believe in him and nothing can distract you, and the evidence is how you are acting on God's word. God cannot lie, do you believe that? Then act on God's word by declaring it in the face of doubts, mockery, or the devil's harassment.
