ABOVE ALL THINGS: LIVING A LIFE THAT'S CONSTANTLY ABOVE
Text: Ephesians 1:18–23; 2:1–7
Ephesians 1:18–23
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Ephesians 2:1–7
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
The writer of Hebrews opened his epistle with an interesting yet profound reality that is often overlooked in today's believers.
Hebrews 1:1–2 says:
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.
It was an explanation of what is now obtainable compared to the time of the law. While the law today still serves as a reference to God's mind and a shadow of God's plan for mankind, it was meant to reveal what God intended, and Christ's coming was to manifest God's plan.
All of this was said to establish that the life we live now is a life paid for.
While during the law, men fought for their victory with God helping them, sometimes they lost, sometimes they won. However, in this time, we don't fight for victory; we fight to enforce our victory because we fight from our victory.
So, the exact positioning that every child of God presently occupies is a place that cannot be affected by powers, principalities, thrones, or anything.
We're above all things.
The anchor Scriptures are clear about that.
Jesus was raised from the dead and was raised above the heavens and seated at the right hand of the Father, far above powers and principalities, thrones, or any name now or in the future.
The Bible didn't stop there; it further says that we also are raised together with Jesus, and we are seated in heavenly places in Christ.
So we're above all things.
That's the reality of our life.
So, when a man is above all things, what else can control him?
Nothing, because all things are under him—not sin, darkness, principalities, nor anything; they are under him.
What the devil does is to make you believe that what the Scriptures say you are is not actually accurate, or that it is only spiritual and cannot be reflected in your physical life.
Sometimes, you will be challenged or attacked to check if you know what is rightfully yours.
If you know you're above all things, these antics will always fail.
Beloved, even if you're faced with attacks from the devil against your health, finances, spiritual life, or anything else, it doesn't take away where you're seated; you're only reminded to enforce your position.
Where you're seated isn't debatable; your understanding is.
When you understand this, you will enforce God's will, you will enforce your authority, and you will enforce your right.
You're here to enforce your position.
Confess that you're seated in heavenly places; you're above all things.

Prayer
Open my understanding so that I won't waste what You've freely given me, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Confession
I am above all things; I'm seated in Christ in heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. I am above all things.
