Topic: LET IT GO

Text: Colossians 3:13-14
13 - Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 - And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

It's natural when people work and live together to have offences, and it's going to happen so many times, to live and enjoy our relationship, we must learn to let go of offenses no matter how extremely bad it may be. While every child of God must strive to avoid offending people through our words and actions, we must also note that each time we are offended, the right response is to let go.

Is forgiveness a difficult thing to do? Absolutely yes, and I believe that no man can forgive especially offences that are grievous. But as difficult as this may be, the expectations of God are that we forgive as God forgives. The Bible reading this morning says exactly as Christ does, and that's a significant statement to make. How can a man forgive as Christ forgives? First understanding Christ's forgiveness would help us with the expectations of God over forgiveness. In Romans 5.8, the Bible explains how Christ forgives, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He forgives in advance, while we are yet sinners, he paid for the remission of our sins against him.

If God has this expectation from us, it means he has dispensed the grace we need to perform it. It's indeed difficult to forgive that man who disappointed you, it's's also true that you are finding it very hard to forgive that man who hurt you so badly. But the expectation of God is that you let it go, we hurt Christ so bad, and while we were still at it, he forgave us. It wasn't easy for him, it cost him his blood. The hurt you carry for this long is enough, let it go. Free them in your mind, let your soul find rest. The grace is there, embrace it and free your heart.

Just let it go.

Do you care to pray about it right now? Just pray that the Lord help you free your mind and pray for those who have offended you.
