Topic: LEST I FAINT
Text: Mark 8:1-9
1 - In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,
2 - I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
3 - And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
4 - And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
5 - And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6 - And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
7 - And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
8 - So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
9 - And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
Have you ever imagined how difficult life can be and you feel as if no one comes to help, it might just be the end or have you been in a situation where you have tried all you could and nothing is showing forth and you just knew that it's either you're helped or there is no other way around it. It's a valid feeling. Newton's first law of motion says an object will continue to be in a state of rest until an external force is applied to it. There are times we just know that this is definitely beyond us, something needs to happen and it needs to happen fast.
My desire is that we will find a moment to pray to God after this morning's devotion, not praying to force his hands (we can't) but reminding him of his compassion and confessing that if he won't help us, we are done for.
While the multitude gathered around Jesus, a time came to dismiss them, the number was so great that the disciples felt they should leave because of the distance to the city. In all of these, Jesus had compassion for them, he said we need to find them something to eat, we must. If we fail to do that, these people will faint on the way. Their strength can't bear them much longer than now, if we allow them to go this way, they will faint on the way. It was this compassion that filled Jesus' heart and he fed them, they ate until they could not eat again. They can't be with Jesus for this long and yet they faint on the way.
Beloved, you can see clearly the mindset of Jesus towards you, he can't afford to leave you this way, if he does, you might not make it. You can't wait on God for this long and he won't feed you, if he won't help you in this Pilgrimage journey, you might faint, this ministry might not survive if you won't be fed by him, this marriage may crash if he decides to dismiss you this way. Can you reflect on how long you have waited on God, can you reflect on how long you have stayed before him, Jesus is saying "I can't leave you like this, lest you faint on the way".
Do you desire to pray now? Can you please with God that please don't leave me like this, don't leave me stranded, don't leave me empty, don't dismiss me hungry, don't forget me in the wilderness. PLEASE, FEED ME, LORD!
