IT'S PREPARED ALREADY: TRUSTING GOD FOR WHAT HE HAS PROVIDED
Text: Mark 14:12–15
12 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they killed the Passover lamb, His disciples said to Him, "Where do You want us to go and prepare, that You may eat the Passover?"
13 And He sent out two of His disciples and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him.
14 Wherever he goes in, say to the master of the house, "The Teacher says, 'Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?'
15 Then he will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared; there make ready for us.
GOD CAN PREPARE IT BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
If a person knew exactly what had been prepared for them and when it would come, perhaps they would worry less. Maybe anxiety would have little room to thrive.
But one of the mysteries of walking with God is that we often do not know when or how He will fulfil what He has promised.
The world may say, "Keep grinding; someday it will pay off." In the kingdom, our confidence is different. We say, "Wait on God; He will surely come through."
Why?
Because we are not waiting blindly.
We are waiting on the God who knows the end from the beginning.
God does not send His children on meaningless journeys. When He gives an instruction, He already knows what awaits us on the other side of our obedience.
THE ROOM WAS ALREADY PREPARED
In Mark 14, Jesus' disciples asked Him where they should go and prepare for the Passover.
Jesus did not appear worried about the preparation.
Instead, He gave them specific instructions. They were to enter the city, follow a man carrying a pitcher of water, and speak to the owner of the house.
What would they find?
A large upper room, furnished and prepared.
The disciples had not prepared the room themselves. They simply had to follow Jesus' instructions until they arrived at what had already been prepared.
This reveals something beautiful about trusting God.
Sometimes, the greatest challenge is not that God has failed to provide. The challenge is that we do not yet know where He has placed what He has prepared.
YOU ARE NOT WAITING WITHOUT HOPE
Beloved, God wants us to learn how to trust Him.
The Bible tells us that God's divine power has given us "all things that pertain to life and godliness" (2 Peter 1:3).
This does not mean that everything we desire has been placed on a shelf waiting for us. Rather, it means that God is faithful to provide what is necessary for the purposes He has called us to fulfil.
Sometimes, what God has prepared is already in front of us, but we cannot recognise it.
Sometimes, we are waiting for a door while God is giving us an instruction.
Sometimes, we are asking God for provision when He is already showing us the next step.
And sometimes, the blessing is connected to an act of obedience we have been postponing.
GOD'S PROVISION OFTEN FOLLOWS OBEDIENCE
Think about Abraham.
When God instructed him to offer Isaac, Abraham obeyed. At the appointed moment, God had already provided a ram caught in a thicket (Genesis 22:13).
Think about Isaac.
When Abraham's servant went in search of a wife for Isaac, God had already prepared Rebekah. The servant only needed to follow God's leading and recognise the woman God had chosen (Genesis 24).
Think about Peter.
When Jesus instructed him to cast a hook into the sea, there was already a coin in the mouth of the fish for the temple tax (Matthew 17:27).
Think about the disciples in Mark 14.
The upper room was already furnished and prepared.
In each case, God's provision was connected to His instruction.
The people involved still had something to do.
Abraham had to obey. The servant had to search.
Peter had to cast the hook. The disciples had to follow the man carrying the pitcher.
God had prepared it, but they still had to obey to find it.
DON'T MISS WHAT GOD HAS PREPARED
This is why we must be careful not to interpret every delay as God's refusal.
Sometimes, God is preparing us.
Sometimes, He is preparing the situation.
Sometimes, He is leading us to the person, place, opportunity, or instruction through which His provision will become visible.
The question is not only, "God, where is my provision?"
We should also ask:
"Lord, what are You asking me to do?"
Perhaps there is an instruction you have been ignoring.
Perhaps there is a step of faith you have been afraid to take.
Perhaps God has already answered you, but the answer requires obedience before you can recognise it.
If God sends you, trust Him to provide what you need for the assignment.
If He gives you an instruction, trust Him enough to obey it.
If He tells you to wait, wait.
If He tells you to move, move.
If He tells you to follow, follow.
The God who sends you is also the God who goes before you.
IT'S PREPARED ALREADY
Beloved, your confidence should not be in your ability to figure everything out.
Your confidence should be in the God who already knows where He is taking you.
You may not see the room yet, but it may already be furnished.
You may not see the ram yet, but God knows where it is.
You may not know where the provision will come from, but God knows.
You may not understand the instruction, but God sees what you cannot see.
So trust Him.
Listen to Him.
Obey Him.
Follow Him.
What God has prepared for you will not require you to become someone else to receive it. It will require you to trust the One who prepared it.
If God has truly sent you, you can trust Him to provide what you need for the journey.
It's prepared already.
REFLECTION
If God has sent you, are you willing to trust and obey Him enough to follow His instructions to where He has prepared what you need?
PRAYER
Father, please help me to trust and obey You. Open my eyes to recognise what You have already prepared for me, and give me the wisdom and courage to follow Your instructions. Help me not to miss Your provision because of disobedience, fear, or impatience. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
