TOPIC:
GUARD YOUR FREEDOM.
TEXT:
1Cor.8.9 - But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
1Cor.8.10 - For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
1Cor.8.11 - And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
1Cor.8.12 - But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
1Cor.8.13 - Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
TRUTHFULLY Christ came to deliver freedom to us, Christ's freedom is also freedom indeed because He says "if the son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed." He has given us freedom from traditions, laws, old practices, superstitions, tales, and the likes. So we have liberty in Jesus. The question now is this: Does this freedom permits us to live our lives the way we want? We'll, maybe! We can live our lives the way we want provided it's guarded by Faith. However, we must now understand that we are expected to live not for ourselves but for the body of Christ!
THE scripture above clearly explained that if our freedom becomes a stumbling block to our brother whose faith and conviction is weaker compared to us, the we have also hurt Christ who redeemed us. So Paul came to a conclusion in his heart, that he will guard his freedom, he will not showcase his freedom to hurt others, rather he will sacrifice all just to help the brethren to stand and to grow.
In the kingdom, we are not built to live for ourselves alone, we live a selfless life and we must as a matter of necessity put the other part of Christ's body into consideration in all we do. You cannot decide to live anyhow, dress anyhow, talk anyhow or do any kind of work, of course your Faith and conviction supported it, but do you consider those that look up to you as one who is more knowledgeable in Christ? Your freedom shouldn't be a stumbling block!
THINK TANK:
Consider your brother and sister in the way you live, be selfless!
PRAYER:
FATHER, HELP ME TO NOT HURT YOU BY BECOMING A STUMBLING BLOCK FOR OTHERS IN JESUS NAME.
